Use of Beside and Besides and their difference


  • Beside means Next to, Close To
  • Beside always used where there is no emotional value attached.
  • Beside is used a preposition
  • Example: Ali is standing beside the pole.


  • Besides can be used as a preposition and also as an adverb
  • While using as Preposition Besides would mean In relation to, Apart from
    Example: Besides Ali, who is going to Lahore.
  • While using as Adverb Besides would mean furthermore.
    Example: Besides, its not just about money
